"Man's Rejection . . . God's Direction"

" . . . For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for MAN LOOKETH ON THE OUTWARD APPEARANCE, BUT THE LORD LOOKETH ON THE HEART".  1 Samuel 16:7b  KJV  (Capitals are mine for emphasis)

REJECTION IS TOXIC, AS IT PARALYZES

Rejection is the root of almost every other dysfunction in a person's life.  It erodes one's self-esteem.  The hurt of rejection cuts deep into an individual's psyche, doing irreparable damage, unless dealt with and faced head on.  Often the one who did the rejecting is spewing out emotional poison from within himself, as he does not know how to otherwise handle the explosive feelings plaguing inside.  Rejection is toxic, as it paralyzes ideas, creativity, dreams and visions to fulfill one's destiny.

ONCE OUR SELF-CONFIDENCE HAS BEEN SHATTERED, WHERE DO WE GO, AND WHAT DO WE DO?

Others may look at us, seeing whom they think is a well-adjusted person.  They
may even be a little envious of our position in life, what we possess, and the influence we are able to exert on perceived important people.  But, when that contrived and projected image crumbles just a little bit, and there appears to be a chink in our armor, then there are negative reactions which taint everything else in which we are involved.  If we have "depended on the arm of flesh" as our security, once our self-confidence has been shattered, where do we go, and what do we do?  There are all kinds of abuses--physical, psychological, verbal, racial discrimination, socio-economic inequities, and sexual violation and harassment.  The hurt emanating from a broken heart hacked by rejection can often be more deadly than a physical wound.

GOING THROUGH SUCH EXPERIENCES HAS THE POTENTIAL OF MAKING US BITTER OR BETTER

When this happens--and it will at one time or another--to all of us, we have a choice to make.  It is a fact of life.  There are insecure characters lurking around in dark back-alleys who are suffering from unhealed emotional traumas.  They delight in trying to chip away at what appears to them to be our perfection.  It intimidates and constantly bothers them, because they feel that they do not measure up to a higher standard.  They won't give up until they think they have cracked our impenetrable wall of security.  If they can't find anything to accuse us of, they will make it up in their small-thinking perverted and unsanctified  imaginations.  Going through such experiences has  the potential of making us bitter or better.  Crushed beyond measure, will we nurse the insult, and let bitterness take root, or will we allow the Holy Spirit to break our stubborn will, and submit to His perfect plan and purpose predestined in the mind of God before we were ever a gleam in our father's eye?

WE ARE NOW READY TO OBEY HIS VOICE AS HE GIVES US THE NEXT ASSIGNMENT

Self-confidence must be replaced by throwing ourselves on God's grace, and learning a total dependence on Him.  Putting trust in fallible men is a snare of the enemy.  Sooner or later, whether they mean to or not, they will fail us--and perhaps they will think we have let them down in some way.  But, praise God, it is a step in the right direction.  Man's rejection will become God's direction.  Now we are coming into a good place, a place where we can hear God's voice, without the interference of self-sufficiency.  Anyone who takes glory unto themselves is destined for a fall.  That is one thing the Almighty will not allow.  This is divine rule which cannot be changed--no exceptions.  Everyone He uses has had to go through a breaking experience.  Even though the rejection of men was painful, it was probably the best thing that ever happened to us.  We are now ready to obey His voice as He gives us the next assignment.  The resistance to His will has--and is--being worked out of us.
