"Disappointments . . .
God's Appointments . . .
For Something Better"

"But as
for you, YE THOUGHT EVIL AGAINST ME; BUT GOD MEANT IT UNTO GOOD, to bring to pass, as it is this day, TO SAVE MUCH PEOPLE ALIVE".  Genesis 50:20 KJV  (Capitals are mine for emphasis)

REMINDERS OF WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN SURROUND US, BUT THE ASHES CAN NEVER BE GLUED BACK TOGETHER AGAIN

Have you ever had your dreams shattered and left in shreds?  What you had hoped for went downward into reverse gear.  The vision which consumed you is now dead, with little or no hopes of resurrection.  Disappointments!  They come to all of us.  The hurt and heartbreak is deeper and more severe than any physical pain which we have ever endured.  Trust has been broken.  Promises have been forgotten, just as though they never existed.  Reminders of what could have been surround us, but the ashes can never be glued back together again.  And, some goof-ball comes out of the shadows with all of the answers as to why everything went wrong.  Of course, he has been "sent by the devil" to rub the salt of discouragement into the wound of disappointment .  When we need encouragement the most, and an uplift, some ignoramus, under the guise of being more spiritual than we are, throws the failure we have just experienced smack dab into our face.

PERHAPS THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VISION, BUT IT NEEDED TO FIRST DIE SO THAT LATER IT COULD BE RESURRECTED INTO A MORE PERFECT FORM

How could God have allowed this?  If you have ever been to Hell and back you know exactly what I am talking about.  Shallow people with no purpose in life have no idea of what it is to "go through the fire".  Only those whom God has His hand on for special assignments are taken to the depths of despair.  Perhaps there was nothing wrong with the vision, but it needed to first die so that later it could be resurrected into a more perfected form which would please God, and be more effective than it was in its original format.  Only those who have been pressed beyond measure in the crucible of disappointments and betrayal know the purifying flame of persecution used by the Holy Spirit to refine us into pure gold.

HE WANTS US TO NOT ONLY TRUST HIM, BUT IT IS HIS DESIRE TO TRUST US

Believe it or not, disappointments are God's appointments for something better.  What we do not pay some kind of price for we do not fully appreciate.  We will go through "a sifting process" before getting to the place the Holy Spirit has in mind for us.  He wants us to not only trust Him, but it is His desire to trust us to get specific jobs finished, and that with excellence.  Very few can earn the trust of the Father as they are filled with the fear of torment and have never resolved their persistent doubts.  Faith is one thing, but faithfulness is a step above.  In the end, we will not be judged by how much faith we had, but how faithful we were.

THE DEPTH OF OUR UNDERSTANDING AND RESPONSIBILITY WHICH HE EXPECTS WILL NOW BE SHARPER AND MORE KEEN

God has appointed you, and me, to step up to a higher level of commitment and understanding of divine mysteries.  The main reason He allowed disappointment to come in that which we formerly pursued, is that even though the vision was basically good and commendable, there were some rough edges which had to be knocked off before He could use it as He originally planned.  The depth of our understanding and responsibility which He expects will now be sharper and more keen.  Our sensitivity to His voice and direction will be magnified.  Later, when we look back to the beginning of this journey we will "discover the unseen hand of God at work".  The evil which came against us, God will turn into good, and give us uncommon favor.  The end will be better than the beginning.  Always remember that, and never let this truth be removed from your spirit.  Many people will be affected by what you--and, me too--are destined and commissioned to do.
